Coaching. It's Such a Great Job!

Praise 310823

Aw. Every day, this job is such a joy ๐Ÿ˜€

And above all, it means I am not needed, for my client has realised her own potential and will continue to thrive on her own. She may come back one day, to go to the next level, but for right now, she's doing so well, and on her way.

After working together for a few months, I like that she's flying solo โœˆ๏ธ

The Value of Radical Candor in Feedback

Radical Candor

Feedback is such a gift when given with the interests of the individual in mind.

Kind leaders face into the challenges of giving clear feedback, because the individual will grow from it.

It might not be easy, and yet that leader might be the first one to tell the person, so the gift may well be very valuable indeed.

However, a word of warning. I was once told 'you need to leave this company' by someone I did not trust or respect, so I railed against this 'advice'.

He was right, and later I dโ€ฆ

3 Early Warning Signs Your Culture is Going Wrong

culture

And you need to act fast to turn it around.

Here's the clues (solutions to follow).

๐Ÿ˜ก You are struggling to hang on to your best people.

๐Ÿ˜ก The people you have are reactive, rather than proactive.

๐Ÿ˜ก You are working the tasks, rather as a leader.

There are solutions to these issues, which are demonstrating the signs of a weakening culture, which is the start of a very rocky road.

Let's take a look. . .

๐Ÿ‘ Become fully aware of what's going on.

Kind Leaders Help Everyone

blue brick

Leadership is not about taking the easy route. It's about being aware of what to do for the best.

Help the quiet ones; the different ones; the thinkers; the excited ones.

The best leaders know how to get the best from everyone in the team, even when they aren't the same as them. That creates a foundation with depth.

Minimising the Urgent in Your Leadership

Getting to the urgent is what matters. Almost nothing should be urgent in the work a leader does. Yet so often, we are driven away from the important to what seems to be urgent.

There are three 'urgents'

  1. Crises - with a modest investment of time, these can be reduced to a trickle
  2. Other people's urgent - saying 'no' to some and 'yes' to others (who offer help), will reduce these to a minimum
  3. Your choices - when you do unproductive work, this is not important, so yes, you can stop
